The 2021 Queen’s Awards for Enterprise were announced on April 29th.

 

The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are the most prestigious awards for UK businesses, recognising and celebrating business excellence across the UK and are personally approved by Her Majesty The Queen. CPL (UK) Limited has been recognised for its excellence in International Trade, where its year on year growth has hugely exceeded expectation over the last three years.

 

CPL is a marketplace specialist in fragrance and beauty. It distributes its products around the world and now has a presence in 52 countries and territories.

CEO Dan Callaghan, who hails from Altrincham reacted:

 

"I am delighted that CPL has won a Queen's Award for Enterprise in International Trade. We set up the business to help pay my tuition fees at University, with no real idea about what we were likely to achieve just a few years later. I have to thank our team of staff who have helped the company win this award - many of them have been with CPL from the start and have made this journey with us."

Director, Steve Callaghan added:

"This is an award which we know has international recognition and we are proud to win it. CPL has an ambitious growth strategy and hope to on-board new countries and territories in 2021. We will also be developing links with new suppliers to expand our extensive current product range and looking for new partnerships to help drive the business forward. It will be an honour to fly the Queen's Award flag."

Now in its 55th year, the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise celebrate the success of exciting and innovative businesses which are leading the way with pioneering products or services, delivering impressive social mobility programmes or showing their commitment to excellent sustainable development practices.

 

CPL hope to celebrate the award later in the year at Buckingham Palace.

I have worked at CPL for just under three years, having joined the business in 2018, taking on  the role of Operations Manager. Although having worked in operations before, this new role at CPL  was vastly different to my previous roles, and working in a business selling on multiple platforms  across many different international market places was a great and exciting opportunity. 

 

Throughout my time within the business I have managed to grow and develop my own skills, and  increase my understanding of the ecommerce sector in the international environment. This has largely been through my experiences of working with the directors of the business to implement new marketplaces and ensuring operational processes are set up to maintain our performance on these marketplaces. I have a very close working relationship with the directors and know that I can 100% rely on their support for help and advice with the day to day running of the business as well as any assistance I need for my own personal development, such as training and management courses.  

The company has a brilliant ethos and offers a great environment to both work and grow. The team comes from a range of backgrounds and everyone gets on, giving it a family feel. Along with a friendly, comfortable and exciting working environment the business also offers great work perks and incentives such as regular team bonding events, team lunches, personal training and development, regular payment reviews and annual bonus reviews.

 

Since being at CPL my understanding of ecommerce has improved hugely, across a broad spectrum of marketplaces and countries, and my own training and development has improved significantly  thanks to a brilliant working environment and superb support from my line managers and directors.
